{Our First Recital}

We survived our first dance recital night.
It wasn't nearly as bad as everyone was telling me it would be.
We only do 2 out of the 4 dance classes available to first graders, so that could have been why.
I really enjoyed watching Abigail dance.
She did a great job!!

good samaritin

Yes people, there are still good samaritans out there.  I recently encountered one of them.

Kelsie and I, along with baby Jackson, went on a trip to Hobby Lobby to buy some things for Kelsie's bridal shower.  We strolled around Hobby Lobby, found some great deals, and only spent $39.   We made our way back to my Yukon, loaded up all our goodies, got ourselves in the car and then I turned the key and this is what came out of my mouth......

Oh Crap!!!
(I know you're impressed with my potty mouth)

You guessed it, the car didn't start.  It made a strange noise that can only be described as the noise that a saw makes...high pitched and squeally.

My parents were out of town, Kelsie's fiance was at work, so our only choice was to call Brent at work.  Luckily he was able to get away and come to the rescue.  He checks under the hood and has no clue what the problem is.  Then our good samaritan arrives.

He was a petite little man with white hair and a Jesus fish on his t-shirt.  He was more than happy to help us.  He called himself a Chevrolet man.  Apparently he has worked on Chevrolet's his entire life.  He crawled under our Yukon, told us what he thought the problem was, and offered to try and help us get it started.  He couldn't actually get the Yukon started, but then he offered to pull it home for us.  To top off all that, he pulls out two cold Diet Cokes from his truck for us since we've been sitting in the heat for over an hour.

Kelsie and Jackson staying cool in Brent's car.

As you can probably imagine, my 9 month old had no patience for all of this.  Thank goodness for Kelsie being there.  She was such a big help with him!!

So our good samaritan successfully towed our Yukon all the way back to our house.  He was all ready to stay and help Brent fix it, but Brent had to get back to work.

It really is comforting to know there are still people out there who care for those they don't even know.  I'm on the look out to repay him by finding someone else who needs help and paying it forward.

Also in case you were wondering, Brent replaced the starter the next morning and it started right up.  I'm so proud of my handy man!!

{bittersweet fun in the sun}

We had so much fun this weekend swimming in my parent's pool.  It's bittersweet, because they are moving to a house without a pool.  We all just keep thinking about how much fun we would've had this summer and the next and the next.

Warning....Warning....Picture overload...Warning....Warning

Of course I'm not in any of the pictures, but I also took some crazy jumps from the diving board. You'll just have to take my word for it.

This little guy loved swimming in the pool too!!

Happy almost Summer!!!!!

Sweet Bloggy Friends!!

When I started my blog, I seriously DID NOT think that anyone would actually be interested in my life.  I started it to literally be a journal of my life as a wife and mothe,,r with the added bonus of being able to share it with my family and friends.  I never imagined I would ever have 10 followers let alone 26.  I know that's not really very many, but I think it's pretty crazy.  I've made some awesome new friends here in the blog world.  We learn from each other, encourage each other, and have a fun time in the process.

One of my favorite new bloggy friends, K. Lee @ KissKissbyKLee, has nominated me for this fun little award.

If you haven't visited her blog you MUST go right NOW and check it out.  She is honest, real, encouraging, super funny, and most importantly beautiful inside and out.  I always get very excited to read her posts every day!!  She's even working on some vlogs, which I'm too much of a scaredy cat to even try.

Rules:
1.  Nominate 15 bloggers who are relatively new to blogging
and let them know you have nominated them.
2.  Add the versatile blogger award picture to your blog post.
3.  Thank the blogger that has nominated you.
4.  Share 7 random facts about you.

I'm gonna break the rules a little bit since I did one of these two months ago.  Instead of nominating 15 blogger friends, I'm just gonna invite all my followers to participate, since I don't have much more than 15 anyway.  Let me know if you do, because I would love to check out your 7 random facts.

7 Random Facts about little ole me....

1. I have never smoked a cigarette.  I wouldn't even know how.

2.  I didn't drink until I was in my mid 20's.

3.  I miscarried a baby in 2010.  I've been wanting to do a blog post about it, but haven't worked up the courage yet.

4.  I'm a teacher and I like my job, but if I could be a stay at home mom I would do it in a heartbeat.

5.  I almost never get sick.  I have some sort of super-human immune system.  Everyone always told me to be prepared during my first year teaching to get sick all the time, being around so many kids, but in my five years teaching I haven't had that problem.

6.  Doctors seriously intimidate me.  I have a four year bachelors degree from a University, but when I start talking to a Doctor I feel like a high school dropout.

7.  I really love super hero movies and TV shows.  I'm dying to see The Avengers, but we've been to busy to get out.

Alright now go check out my friend K. Lee's blog.  I know you'll enjoy it!!!

last thing thursday {may 24}

The Life of the Wife

Thursday??? Already??? Thank you God!!!

The last thing I........

felt like a dope about
thinking that Jenna and everyone linking up for her last thing Thursday had lost there minds, because clearly today is not Thursday.

 It's totally Wednesday right?

NOPE!!! It's Thursday.
Obviously I need a little practice with my days of the week :\

ate
take a look at this

If your not from the south you may not  understand how awesomely delicious crawfish is, but just trust me when I say my taste buds are dancing at this very moment.

felt excited about

My last day of work is Friday.  Summer time here we come!!!!
I sincerely apologize to my regular readers who are probably so tired of hearing me constantly talk about how excited I am about summer break.
 Please don't unfollow me!

felt stressed about
My poor little fella was running a 101.4 temperature last night.  This is his first fever ever in his 9 months of life.  He was so sad and pathetic.  It was gone as of this morning, so hopefully it was just a little viral something and now it's over.  This is just about the worst possible week for him to be sick, which is exactly when my kids will usually get sick.

 bought for my phone
I never usually buy apps.  I tend to stick with the free ones, but I took a chance on this one and I'm glad I did.  It was 99 cents and it makes the cutest pictures.
Here is just one example of the many frames you can pick from.  After I saved the pictures in the frame, I pulled them up in instagram to add the effects.

Thanks for stopping by =)

Midweek Confessions {May 23}

I loved E's Letter to New Mom series last week, but I really missed our weekly confession time.

  • I have been trying for a few years now to stop watching Grey's Anatomy, but it keeps sucking me back in.  I really used to like it, but it can get slow and old at times.  I mean come one, a plane crash finale!!  How am I supposed to resist that?
  • I have 3 days of work left before summer break and I'm excited, but mostly overwhelmed thinking about it.  I wish I could say I'm ready for summer to relax and rest, but I don't think that's actually gonna happen.  We have such a busy summer ahead, which unfortunately will make the summer fly by too quickly.

  • I like to push peoples buttons (Brent, Kelsie, Abigail).  You know, aggravate them.  If I know I'm doing something that is making them mad [not really bad or mean things, just annoying things], I sometime can't help but keep doing it, just to see what they do.  I think it's funny.  I know I shouldn't, but I truly can't help it.  Now y'all probably think I'm a b****, but I'm really not. I promise.
              Weeellll, maybe sometimes I am.

  • Sometime I just feel like packing up and moving far away.  I know my problems would eventually follow me, but a fresh start sounds nice.
That's it for this week.  Short and Sweet!

Happy half way to Friday!!

things I greatly dislike

I almost titled this things I HATE!  However, I don't really like using the word hate.  It sounds so negative.  Anyway, so here we go with things I greatly dislike...

**laundry**
It just never ends!!!  I empty the dirty clothes hampers and the next day they seem to be magically filled up again.  I fold four baskets of clean clothes, then put them away and it seems like the next day the laundry room in overflowing with freshly dried clothes to be folded.

I just never ends!!  Can someone go MAD from laundry overload?

**unfairness**
I am a true believer in things being fair.  Especially when it comes to my own kids, and my students at school.  I don't really like it when people play favorites or give special treatment, unless it's to me.   I know things can't always be perfectly even steven, but I think we should strive to make things as fair as possible.

**debt**
We have a lot of debt.
Debt sucks!

I know it's our own fault, but I still hate it.  Sometimes, I'm not sure we will ever get out from underneath our debt, at least not until we are old wrinkly people.

**junk mail**
Junk mail should be outlawed.
75% of what I pull out of the mailbox is immediately thrown in the garbage!

**talking on the phone**
I always sound awkward on the phone.  Unless I'm talking to my husband, mother, or sister, I suddenly forget how to communicate with other humans.  I either stammer through the conversation, or say something completely ridiculous that makes no sense.  I also have no idea how to end a conversation with some one on the phone.
Do you just say a quick "goodbye", or "see ya", or "talk to you later" or "have a good day"?

When we moved I had to call all the credit card company's, banks, and utility companies to change our address.  It was like torture to me!!

Thank God for texting and e-mail!

**washing bottles**
I don't mind doing dishes, but washing bottles is the pits.  I'm dreaming about the day when we are bottle free.  It will be heaven!
So nice to come home to this after a hard day at work!!!!!
What are some things you greatly dislike?

{the little things}

This post is filled with random pictures, mostly of Abigail from her last week of first grade!!

 Splash Day at school!

Awards Day!
She got awards for: honor roll/banner roll all year, meeting her AR goal all year, reading 75 books.

Isn't this the cutest picture of Jackson?  He fell asleep in the car.  We thought he would wake up when we brought him inside, but he was just too tired to wake up.
The booty in the air kills me!!

he he he

I'm extremely pumped about the fact that I have 25 followers!!!!
I'm feelin the love!  =)
Update: Whoa!  I posted this before I notice I actually gained another follower overnight!  Woo Hoo!!

I'm also really pumped that I figured out how to get a picture of my followers from my blog onto this post.  I've seen other more experienced bloggers do i't so I did a little googling and figured out it's quite easy.

Yes I know that was very random and not very significant, but I like to remember all these fun and simple times!

After all, my blog's subtitle is "remembering the little things."
