Gettin the heck out of dodge

We are on our way to Toledo bend. Abigail and Austin are breaking in their new bags that Nana bought them. They are so excited about going fishing. I really hope they catch something.

Be back in a few days!!!

randomness

Alright here we go with some randomness. Just to warn you, I am blogging from an iPad so I'm pretty sure this will be short considering I'm only using one finger to type!

I also have a little terror who won't leave our tv/tv wires/wii/DVD player alone. I move him away and in a flash he is back over there trying to destroy everything he can get his little hands on!!

It's a good thing he's darn cute!!

Here's the randomness...

-my blog is probably going to die since I don't have a decent computer :(

-Jackson will be ten months on June 10th and he's already taking 3-4 steps at a time.

- Jackson has also been fighting with ear infections which has NOT been a fun start to my summer!

-We are going to visit Brent's grandparents at Toledo bend this week. It's always a nice quiet getaway when we visit them. I'll try and take pictures and blog about it, but that's a big try.

- I'm excited to be going to a new bible study tonight at my friend Anna's house. We are reading The Holiness of God by RC Sproul. I've read the first chapter and so far I really like it.

- my finger is getting tired

-We still haven't had one single bite on our house. It's been on the market for 39 days now. I'm trying to be patient but that's not really my personality.

Well that's all for now. Sorry for any typos, but I really couldn't care less at this point!

Hope y'all have a good week!!!

creative cookies

Abigail, Austin and I made some chocolate chip cookies from scratch last week. They actually turned out really good for a change, and they looked pretty too!

We decided to get a bit creative with the second half of the cookie dough. I happened to have some Twix candy bars lying around, so we cut them up into tiny pieces and mixed them in.

They tasted really yummy. We are going to try some different candy bars next time.

On a completely different note, we just got back from our getaway to Toledo Bend. We visited Brent's grandparents and had a really nice time. I will share more with pictures later on.

Smile... Tomorrow is Friday!

our summer so far...

So sadly we are already one week into our summer break.

Here is a picture summary of what we've been doing so far.

 Jackson's first trampoline experience.
He seemed to like it, or maybe it was just all the pine needles he tried to eat.

I know it looks like he is throwing a fit, but that is actually his crazy, super silly face he makes now.
I can already tell he's going to be a goober!

I  love this picture because it seems like they're having a very serious discussion.

His hands, knees, and feet were completely black.

We LOVE spaghetti!

Poser!!

Love that freckle face!!

My attempt at making homemade white sausage gravy.  It actually tasted really good.  Who says white gravy has to be white anyway?! :)

I know this makes my summer so far seem like super fun and totally relaxing, but it really has been an adjustment.  Jackson is at a really hard age right now.  He is almost 10 months old, but thinks he is 2 years old.  He is into everything and needs my almost constant attention.  Not to mention he hasn't been taking very good naps, which make for a long tiring day.

He's also started out the week with an ear infection and hand, foot and mouth disease.  For those of you who don't know what that is, basically it's a virus babies and kids tend to pick up from touching germy things and putting germy things in mouth.  You know, like a 10 month old who crawls around all over our floors with all the germs we have picked up on our shoes throughout the day.   He's better, but now his nose is running like a faucet.  It's always something.

Despite all that, I really am happy that it's summer!!

I've been a tad obsessed with cleaning the house, since I pretty much don't deep cleaning during school months.  Here is what I've checked off my list so far...

1. I have completely caught up on Laundry. (this won't last long with 5 people living here)
2.  I have cleaned all kids bedrooms and swept floors. (still need to mop them)
3.  I mopped both bathroom floors/cleaned counters and toilets.
4.  I cleaned out and organized the laundry room. (it was bad)
5.  I cleaned off the top of the refrigerator. (you know all that junk that starts to accumulate up there)
6.  I cleaned out and reorganized all the drawers in our kitchen island.
7.  I checked off a few things from my bridal shower checklist, including addressing and mailing invitations. (with the help of my mom and sister)
8.  I cleaned out and reorganized the food pantry.
9.  I swept off the trampoline.

Happy Summer to ya!!!

Toledo Getaway

We went on a quick trip to Toledo Bend to visit Brent's grandparents. They have a really nice place up there. It only takes about two hours to get there so the car trip was pretty easy. It's quiet, peaceful, and picturesque! It's always been a place we could go cheap to get away from life.

Brent took the kids fishing and they had a blast. Even more fun than fishing was playing on the stairs.

Jackson was a bit of a handful, so it wasn't really super relaxing for me, but it was nice to get away for a couple days and forget about our stresses back home.

Below are the only pictures I took while we were there. Another photo failure.

We came home with enough fish for a nice fish fry, and I love me some fried fish!!

Obsessions

I'm linking up with Sara over at Saige Wisdom for another Obsession link up!!  Come on and link up!!

Current Obsessions

**Cleaning my house**
I know this sounds crazy, but I pretty much don't clean my house all school year so you can imagine how bad things get by the time summer break rolls around.  I always do this and then regret it, because I would rather be enjoying my summer break by doing absolutely NOTHING!!

**Bridal Shower Planning**
If you read my previous post you know what I'm talking about.  I've getting wedding on the brain.

**A new computer**
We can't afford one right now, but I'm dying to get one.  I thought I would rely on my school laptop during the summer, but of course it is also acting up.  Another reason my blog might slowly go down toilet.

**Selling our house**
We've had our house on the market for about a month now and not one single bite.  We even lowered the price by quite a bit, but still nothing.  Uggghhh

Wow, so my obsessions this week were pretty depressing.  Sorry for being a Debbie Downer!!

bridal shower planning mode

I'm in full bridal shower planning mode now that school is out.  In fact the shower things have overtaken our kitchen table and I believe our island will be the next victim.

So if I'm a little absent for the next few weeks, just know I'm probably working on things for the shower. I thought I would give all my blogging friends a little sneak peek.

My plan is to fill the vases and mason jars with a variety or wild flowers.

We won't be eating here for a few weeks.

I'm in love with this floral fabric that I found on clearance.  I really wish they had more of it. I'm using it a sort of color inspiration.

Well I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek and feel free to throw me some suggestions for cute decor to match this rustic/wildflower theme!!!
