Midweek confessions: it's been a long time

-I am already wishing for the time change. I'm ready to put my kids to bed at 7:15 and not feel guilty because it's so light outside still.

-I've been watching Dawson's Creek on Netflix. I know that alone is sort of a confession, but that's not what I'm ashamed of. I'm ashamed of the fact that I hid in the bathroom from my children, with my iPad so I could finish the season one finale in peace.

-Some friends of ours had a sweet baby girl recently and I started feeling really sad that I would never again get to experience all that. It's funny how easily and quickly you forget all the hard things about being pregnant and having a baby. I don't really want to have any more kids, but it still makes me feel sad to know that chapter of my life is over. I'm pretty sure I'll get over it.

-I have a crazy and illogical fear of bugs, especially the ones of a stinging variety. I've never actually been stung by any bee or wasp.

We recently discovered this huge nasty stick bug in Abigail's room. Brent wasn't home so I had no choice but to take care of the situation. I had the hibby gibbys all day after killing this monster.
-This confession post has been typed up and ready to be published for over a month.  I've just been too lazy to link up lately.

Well that's it for this edition.  Hopefully it won't be months before I link up again.

Happy Wednesday to ya!

midweek confessions

You may not have noticed, but I haven't linked up in a few weeks.  I'm back for another edition of confessions!!

Enjoy!
Confession #1
Kelsie's bridal shower is over and I am soooo relieved.  Everything went well, and I enjoyed planning and decorating, but it was stressful at times and overwhelming.   Probably, the fact that I have three kids and one of them is under 1, was really the cause of most of that stress.

A few pics for you

Confession #2
I've been so obsessed with keeping our house spotless for showings, that I forbid encourage Brent not to cook anything.  He makes such a mess when he cooks.  I'm a little OCD so his version of clean and my version of clean are slightly different.

Confession #3

I've been eating horribly lately.  Healthy diet and exercise just flew out the window and I don't even remember where or when.

Confession #4

I would go to the movies to see just about anything.  I recently realized this about myself.  I've always enjoyed going, but I'm pretty sure I would go no matter what the movie if someone invited me.  I just really enjoy the experience.  For the first time in a long time, we left the movies really disappointed with the movie we saw last week, but I still enjoyed it and I'm glad I went.

Confession #5

I need a break from my kids.

Confession #5

Abigail has turned into a very sarcastic little thing lately and I am totally to blame.  I can be way too sarcastic and so, of course, your kids pick up your worst habits.

Confession #6

I hate grammar, specifically comma's and apostrophe's.  I'm generally a smart person, but I worry too much about it and I just can't remember, so I've decided to stop caring.  (doubt full)

****Update****

Confession #7 or #8

Apparently I also don't know how to count.  Yes, people like me teach your children in public school.

Midweek Confessions {May 23}

I loved E's Letter to New Mom series last week, but I really missed our weekly confession time.

  • I have been trying for a few years now to stop watching Grey's Anatomy, but it keeps sucking me back in.  I really used to like it, but it can get slow and old at times.  I mean come one, a plane crash finale!!  How am I supposed to resist that?
  • I have 3 days of work left before summer break and I'm excited, but mostly overwhelmed thinking about it.  I wish I could say I'm ready for summer to relax and rest, but I don't think that's actually gonna happen.  We have such a busy summer ahead, which unfortunately will make the summer fly by too quickly.

  • I like to push peoples buttons (Brent, Kelsie, Abigail).  You know, aggravate them.  If I know I'm doing something that is making them mad [not really bad or mean things, just annoying things], I sometime can't help but keep doing it, just to see what they do.  I think it's funny.  I know I shouldn't, but I truly can't help it.  Now y'all probably think I'm a b****, but I'm really not. I promise.
              Weeellll, maybe sometimes I am.

  • Sometime I just feel like packing up and moving far away.  I know my problems would eventually follow me, but a fresh start sounds nice.
That's it for this week.  Short and Sweet!

Happy half way to Friday!!

Confession time {May 9}

I'm starting with the worst today, so here goes....

*Sometimes if Jackson is fussy while I'm trying to do something in the kitchen, like dishes or cook, I'll open the fridge and he plays at the bottom of it.  He can't couldn't really reach anything or get anything out, so I saw no problem with this.  A mom's got to do, what a mom's got to do.  Weeeelll, Monday morning, he succeeded in pulling a wine bottle out of the bottom shelf inside the door and it shattered all over the floor.  I immediately picked him up and cleaned him off, but he did get a tiny cut on his hand.  I felt horrible!!!!!  Mommy guilt overload!!!

{To top that off, Abigail went to school and told everyone that Jackson pulled a beer bottle out of the fridge and cut himself with it.  I was mortified!  Kids have no filter.}

*I'm not good horrible at taking pictures.  Sunday we met up with some of our church home group and went to a little water playground.  Abigail and Austin loved it and had a BLAST!  It would have been an ideal time to get really cute pictures of them, but nope.  I didn't even take out my camera.  I think I will blame it on the fact that I don't have a decent camera.  If I were to ever get the camera I really want, I really believe I would be better about it.

*I bought  box of Teddy Grahams for Jackson.  Someone gave me a little bag of them and he did really well chewing them up and so I thought I would get a box for him to munch on.  Well I pretty much ate the entire box in two days.  I never realized how much I love Teddy Grahams.  I wonder if I can buy these in bulk at Sams.  Then maybe my kids would get some.  he-he-he

Midweek Confessions {May 2}

What else would I be doing on a Wednesday?
1. I've been totally ignoring pinterest lately.  I don't know what's going on with me.  I think maybe it just  information overload.  I'm not ditching it, just needed a break.

2. I've been really jealous of all these cool instagram pictures from people iPhones.  Android finally offers it as an app so I downloaded it and I've only used it twice.   I think it's totally cool.  I just keep forgetting about it. My user name is jenak24 if you want to follow.  Maybe if  have followers I'll be better at remembering to use it... or maybe not.

3.  I killed some chocolate chip cookies this weekend!!  I don't know why, but my homemade chocolate chip cookies never come out looking right.  My four year old was scared of them.  He said they looked squished.  I need a cookie intervention!!

This is the first batch.  I promise I used a cookie scoop.
When I took them out they went super flat.

The one of the left is first batch and the one of the right is second batch.
The second batch turned out a little better.

As ugly as my cookies were, they still tasted yummy!  Which leads me to my fourth confession--

4.  I might have eaten 4 chocolate chip cookies, or it could have been 6.  I lost count.

5.  I killed the imagination of a six year old girl this morning! ---The tooth fairy didn't bring Abigail money for her teeth last night.  She's been saving her teeth so she could get a lot of money at one time.  She had four teeth saved up and I guess after Brent put her to bed last night, she figured she'd go ahead and collect on her teeth.   She didn't tell either of us.  I got her up this morning and she said "wait wait I put my teeth under the pillow last night!"

Uh Oh!

You can imagine how things went from there.  It really wasn't too bad.  I just told her that the tooth fairy must have been really busy and that we would try again tonight and see what happens.

Happy Confessing!!

Midweek Confessions!!

We took a week off and I'm still struggling to come up with some confessions.  Here we go....

--Brent and the kids got sick last week with the stomach bug.  I confess that I actually sort of get mad at Brent when he gets sick.  I know he can't help it.  I feel bad that I feel this way.  I guess since I hardly ever get sick, like really hardly ever, it's hard for me to sympathize.  I'm working on this.

--It was soooo nice to sleep one whole night away from my kids and husband.  As much as I love them and missed them while I was gone, it was one of the best nights sleep I've had in a long time.  I think it's important for wives and moms to get away sometimes.  It will make you a happier wife and mommy.

--I get giddy when I think about the fact that we only have thirty something days of school left.  I really like my job, but I need my summer to hurry up.

--I am totally pumped about getting 2 new followers this week.  Sometimes when I visit other blogs and they have thousands of followers, I start to feel overwhelmed and think my blog will never be like theirs.  Then I remind myself that getting a bunch of followers is not why I'm blogging.  Getting new followers is totally awesome, but I started this blog as a place to share and record everyday family memories for myself and family.  Having followers is just a pretty cool bonus!!

Yes, I know that was pretty boring, but that's all I got today!!

Happy Wednesday!!

Midweek Confessions!

I'm linking up again!  If you don't do midweek confessions, you should give it a try.  It's strangely freeing!

-I love the Duggars.  I watch 19 Kids and Counting every week.  I know it's sort of a controversial topic for some, but I feel like it's not my place to judge whether or not someone should have 19 kids.  I feel like that is between them and God and who am I to say otherwise.  They really inspire me in many ways.  Don't get me wrong I would never ever ever have 19 kids, but the fact that they have 19 respectful, Christian, well spoken, obedient, caring, and musically talented children is something worth noticing.  Sometimes when I start showing anger toward my kids, I stop and think about Michelle Duggar.  She truly must have the patience of a saint.  If she can stay calm in the midst of 19 crazy kids than I can surely keep my anger in check with only 3.  I may not agree with everything they do (modesty bathing suits), but I can easily see that they love God and everything they do is to bring Him glory, and I truly respect that.

-It's finally Spring Break here.  I was seriously down in the dumps all last week because it seemed like every other state in the United States was on spring break but us.   The confession is that I have absolutely no plans to accomplish anything this week.  Last week Brent asked me what my goals were for Spring Break and I just shrugged my shoulders.  Maybe I just want to do nothing!!

-I really want to get a tattoo on my foot, but I might be too chicken.  Brent is planning on getting a tattoo when he turns 30.  He has always wanted one.  I never really even gave it too much thought before this year.  Maybe I am feeling too much like a frumpy old mom and need to do something daring and exciting.  I have serious doubts that I will go through with it, but you never know.
                                        Pinned Image
(something like this)

-When our kitchen hand soap started running low, I just added water to it.  I hate how there is clearly still soap left in the bottle, but it won't come up through the tube.  I don't like waste!

-It took me 2 hours to create my first blog button.  I was about to pull my hair out because I couldn't get the size right and no matter what I tried it wouldn't fit.  Then two hours in the light bulb went off!  The button needed to be a square!! duhh!  I know this might be child's play for most of you, but I am pretty darn proud of my first button.  Check it out to your right->  If only I could have removed the double chin! :)

Midweek Confessions!

Alrighty here they are:

-I love love love chewy chips ahoy.  You know the chewy chocolate chip cookies.  I can't eat just one.  In fact I can't eat just three.  I almost always grab about four of those bad boys.  I think I pretty much took care of 80% of the last box.  Not proud of that.

-I think my kids ate fast food 3 or 4 times this week.  Jillian Michaels would call that child abuse.

-I have too many confessions that deal with food.  No wonder I need to lose weight.

-I went to work last week with baby spit up (or something like that, I'm not really sure) on my pants and didn't notice until late afternoon.  Nobody said anything!  Thanks students and coworkers!

-My first baby, now 6 years old, is going on a 12 hour road trip with my parents and I don't feel as nervous as I thought I would.  They are headed to Oklahoma to visit family.  They'll be gone for about 6 days.  Maybe after she leaves I'll get a little more anxious.  I don't know maybe I just know that my mom is more overly protective with my kids than I am, so she will be well taken care of.  I will miss her though.  As I am typing this I am starting to feel a bit sad.  I will miss hearing the crazy things that come out of her mouth every day.

-Of course I have to end with another food confession.  I seriously love cereal. Right now my favs are Raisin Bran Crunch and Frosted Mini-Wheats Touch of Fruit in the Middle.  I never have time in the mornings to eat cereal, but I eat a bowl almost every night like an evening dessert.  Brent gets mad because I will demolish a box before he even gets one bowl.

Ok, after all this food talk maybe I should go workout.

On second thought, maybe I need a snack :) hehehe

Midweek Confessions (I know you love 'em)

I confess......

-I had trouble thinking of confessions this week.  It's not because I am a perfect person and don't do anything wrong.  It's because my life is just that boring.

-Our Governor is radically reforming our public education to the point of destroying it and all the teachers are up in arms about it.  People are passionate and outraged and threatening to walk.  I am also not very happy about any of this, but mostly I am scared out of my wits.  I am ignorant when it comes to political things.  I am scared for my own kids and my student's futures in public education.  I am scared to walk out, although I would if our faculty decided to do it all together.  I am scared that I will not have a future as a teacher if things continue in the path they are headed.  It just makes my stomach hurt.

(Here is my little protester at our peaceful rally we held after school.  We wanted to show the community that we don't agree with the Governor's plan, but we aren't going to abandon our students.)

-On a lighter note,  I confess that I am super pumped about seeing The Hunger Games midnight showing Thursday night.  I am even wearing a Hunger Games shirt!  I know, I 'm a nerd but I love it!!

-I love it when one of my students has a birthday and brings cupcakes or some sort of sugary delicious treat.  I have my students trained well, so they always bring enough for the class and me!!

Midweek Confessions

Linking up again for my weekly therapeutic confessions!!
here we go....

-I am really scared to admit this..... I didn't vote for Joshua Ledet last week on American Idol.  In case you didn't know, Joshua Ledet is from my hometown.   People of Westlake, please don't hate me. I didn't do it on purpose.  I was home alone with my three babies and after the show we did baths and I put them to bed, with every intention of voting when I was finished. After an hour of bedtime routine, all three of my kids were in bed and snoozing, so I decided to treat myself to a nice hot bath and by the time I remembered to vote, it was too late.  I promise, promise, promise I will vote tonight many many times.  I can't help but feel it is my fault for Josh being in the bottom six.  I am seriously contemplating taking this off right now... but it's too good of a confession.  Sorry Josh!  Please forgive me Westlake!!!  I might be run out of town!

-I just realized I am  really nervous about commenting on people's blog.  I guess I'm worried about sounding stupid.  I also tend to think that people commenting on other people's blogs are all friends in real life and really don't care what I have to say.  I know that is not true, because people have commented on my blog that I don't know and I LOVED it.  It's an insecurity I need to get over.

-I am a nervous wreck because my 7 month old son is already doing things like this.
This is scary right?  He is going to have so many bumps and bruises before he turns one.  This is my last baby and I didn't want him to do things so fast.   I might have to invest in a padded room for him.   What can I do to keep my baby a baby?

Midweek Confessions

-I tend to lose my mind and go crazy over small insignificant problems.  If we have some really serious problem, such as emergency surgery or loss of job, I'm cool as a cucumber.  But if Brent loses his wallet or the Internet is malfunctioning, I will go crazy.  I HATE this about myself.  Last week our air conditioner was acting up and wouldn't kick on.  Well, it been getting into the mid 70's around here and I can't sleep in the heat.  I was so mad about the whole situation.  Poor Brent really took the brunt of my seriously crazy bad mood.  Thank goodness he loves me and just puts up with these moments when I lose my mind for a little bit.

-I really like kid snacks like fruit roll ups, gushers, gold fish, animal crackers.  Thank goodness I have kids now so when I buy these things for myself it doesn't seem weird.

-Jackson (7months) has already tried quite a few bits of grown up foods.  I know some moms are really strict about not introducing table food until a certain age, which I totally respect.  I have given Jackson tiny mushed up bits of Ritz crackers, a tiny piece of the white middle part of an Oreo (which he loved),  he has licked a sucker, and had some tiny mushed up pieces of a brownie.  I think I worried more about following all the baby rules with my first two babies, thinking I might break them or something, but with Jackson I am much more relaxed.  Of course he is very supervised while trying these things and we do not do any peanut products(in case of allergies) or honey(I can't remember why, but I remember people saying not to give babies honey before a certain age).

-I bought girl scout cookies, even though I am trying to lose way.  Samoas are my fav.

Midweek Confessions

I just want to give you the heads up that my first confession is pretty long, but stick with it because it's pretty funny...
  • We went grocery shopping last week, just me Brent and Jackson.  We decided that we would let Jackson try sitting in the front of the buggy.  He was doing pretty well, but he needed to be repositioned often because he was so squirmy.  When I go grocery shopping with a list I have to carry my list and a pen to mark things out as we buy them.  I am totally obsessive compulsive about it.  While Brent was looking at t-ball bats for Austin, I noticed Jackson was slumped over and needed to be repositioned.  So I, with my list and open pen in hand, reached over and sat him up straight and propped some things around him to keep him from falling, and then I walked away to look at something.  A minute later I hear Brent say "oh god" and he is cracking up. I walk over, look down at Jackson and to my horror there is blue ink all over his face.  I had written on my baby's face with my pen.  It was horrible looking.  There was even a blue line on his lower lip.  I felt horrible.  Of course I immediately start licking my fingers and try rubbing it off, but if you have any experience with ink on skin, you know that it wasn't coming off.  It lightened up but you could still see the blue ink lines on his little chubby cheeks.  So we walked around Walmart finishing our grocery shopping and I just knew that everyone was wondering how in the world he got blue ink lines all over his face.  Brent thought it was hilarious, but I really felt bad.  Mother of the Year Award, here I come!

(This was before the ink incident.  I refused to take a picture of his face with ink all over it!  I felt too guilty.)
  • I am new to the blogging world and so I'm constantly checking my stats to see how many people have viewed it.  I also get a little too excited when someone comments on one of my posts.  I'm talking giddy!

  • While I was pregnant I grew all these new hairs right above my forehead.  They were bothering me so much because they wouldn't lay flat.  I started just plucking them out here and there if I felt one on my forehead or around my face.  I guess I got carried away because now I have a ton of little tiny hairs growing back and sticking STRAIGHT UP.  It looks really bad if you look too closely.  I learned my lesson.

  • I am already counting down the days till summer break.  We have 53 days left!!  That doesn't sound too bad.

  • I really really hate my duty week.  Duty week consists of having to be at school at 7:10 for all the fifth graders to come sit in my room.  I have to take the entire fifth grade to lunch and watch them eat and try to keep them quiet, which is impossible, and I have to moniter the entire fifth grade at recess.  This is for an entire week once a month.  By the end of the week I feel like I could cry.  (on the bright side I only have 2 more weeks left this year, after this week!!)

  • I really failed with my weight-loss efforts this weekend.  I ate Burger King, donuts, chinese food, pizza, and brownies.

Midweek Confessions

Today I am linking up to another blog called e-myself and I, for midweek confessions.  I am doing my best to keep it real and be honest, so here it goes...

  • Almost every night that I have to get up around 2 am to fix a bottle for Jack-Jack, I will grab a cookie for myself.  I am usually half asleep and can't really taste it, but I need it.

  • I think Abigail went four days last week without a bath or shower.  I honestly don't know how many days it was, but for sure not more than four.  She didn't stink or look dirty, but I felt bad anyway.

  • On Valentine's day I ate at least half of the chocolates out of Abigail's heart box that her daddy gave her.  Luckily she is too young to notice.

  • I sometimes watch Jersery Shore.  It's like a bad car wreck and I can't look away.   I really think it is horrible and nasty, but I get stuck watching it sometimes before I realize what I am doing.

  • Austin wouldn't take his medicine last week when he was sick, so I pinned his arms and legs down with my body and forced him to swallow it.  He immediatly threw it all up.  I felt like a horrible mother.  I didn't do it again.
